That's right... Oliver turned 17 months old this weekend! It really has been the fastest 17 months of my life! The little guy is becoming quite a big fella. He has lots of tricks up his sleeve and is so much fun to be around. Enjoy a "quick" update!
Oliver is walking all over the place and starting to run more and more. He's hard to keep up with at times, but always comes back to us. He loves to be close to Mom and Dad reading books, playing basketball, throwing balls around the kitchen, pushing cars around, and much more. Even though he's the youngest in his class at daycare, you'd never know it any more! He's caught right up with all the other kids in size (not that he was ever really that much smaller anyway!). Mr. Giraffe is still his favorite toy, which he sleeps with every night, but cars and balls are close seconds. Music is definitely a love! He sings "Happy and You Know It" with multiple versus. Any time music with a good beat comes on he immediately starts dancing. And if he likes the song he claps his hands when it's over.
He's quite the dare-devil. Some of his "stunts "include falling straight back on our bed or the couch, and doing "up-downs" on the livingroom carpet. He loves opening and shutting drawers and doors and learned the hard way the importance of moving his fingers out of the way. Though they get in each other's faces from time to time, Oliver is good at being gentle with Wilson (most of the time). They get closer and closer all the time.
Oliver talks our head off most of the time: at dinner, while we're playing, in the car... everywhere! Unfortunately he's starting to get a little frustrated at us not understanding him, but we are being diligent about teaching him patience, even when we lack it ourselves. Some favorite words include "Down, Wilson", "Do it again," and "more". We've taught him how to sign "please" so he's not begging for things all the time.
He still sleeps 12 hours at night and takes a 2-hour nap each day. Most days he has oatmeal for breakfast, a sandwich with banana and yogurt for lunch, some sort of crackers for snack, and a multitude of things for supper. He loves bath time, washing his hands, and brushing his teeth. He always asks for "more" when I'm finished with his teeth, which cracks me up.
Our little buddy is a growing boy! We love watching him grow and learn. It's fascinating!
