Long Weekend

This weekend was great, though it did not start out all that wonderful. On Friday morning we found out that Brent had a minor case of strep throat and sinus infection, so he stayed home from work. We all prayed a lot that day that Oliver did not catch it. And the prayers were answered! Brent was feeling much better by Saturday morning. So we went grocery shopping, had lunch at Chipotle and laid low in the evening on Saturday as a family. Oliver's laughing at anything and everything these days. The video below shows him laughing hilariously in the bath on Saturday night! The splashing water had him cracking up!

On Sunday Brent got up at 4:00 AM for the gym to a car that would not start. That meant that he had to take the Camry to work and Oliver and I were stuck at home. We had a great day playing around the house, chasing one another, and just being together. We don't get many days like this during the school year, so I was eating it up! Sunday night we dropped Brent's car with the dealer to find out what was wrong (electrical issues that were drowning the battery) and headed to Bible study. Our group has delved back into a marriage study after taking a break for "40 Days in the Word", which I did very poorly following. The food and conversations were awesome!

Yesterday I was off for President's Day. Because we'd spent all day at home on Sunday, Oliver and I went to the zoo. The day started out in the low 20s, but by the time we headed home after lunch it was already in the upper 30s. We had a great time watching polar bears wrestle, baby monkeys swing, cats pace in circles, and penguins march through the middle of the zoo. There were so few people at the zoo that it felt like we had the place all to ourselves most of the day. The most fun was watching Oliver interact with the animals. He's always enjoyed the zoo, but he's started asking, "What's that?" then laughing when he sees the animal move.

To sum it up... we had a great long weekend!
