Fun Times!

For the last two weeks Brent and Oliver have spent Thursday and Friday bonding. Their favorite activity is going to the park. Oliver loves to swing, climb, and slide. He's getting so big!

Yesterday Brent's company paid for employees to enjoy a day at the zoo, including lunch and rides. We have a membership, so seeing the animals is done regularly. Because they also paid for the rides, which we don't usually participate in, we rode the train and enjoyed a ride on the carousel. It was a great time!

Oliver's also got tons of tricks up his sleeve! He climbs on the couch and asks for "Sesame Street" at least once a day. His Elmo enjoyment only lasts 10 minutes or less though, mostly because he can't sit still. We have to watch him on the couch because he loves to throw his body back and feel the bounce. Though we understand the enjoyment it brings, we're trying to break this habit before he breaks a bone!

When it's bath time at night he knows how to put away his shoes, socks, and clothes in the right spot. He loves brushing his teeth, but of course he's not good at it yet. In the next few weeks we're going to start potty training with the intent of being diaper-free when I go back to work in August. Oliver can tell us where the potty is, knows to put his toilet seat on top, and realizes he needs a stool to reach. He's not fond on sitting on the potty without his clothes on yet though.

Oliver's figured out that when you stand on things you can reach things that are high up. He's used the bathroom stool for a long time now, but he started taking his toy bins and diaper boxes to stand on in places throughout the house as well. He'll bring us random things: my cell phone off of the kitchen table, sticky notes from the office, and tissues off of his dresser.

The kid LOVES building with anything and everything! We joke around and say he's going to an architect when he grows up. And he loves sorting. He'll line up buckets and sort objects into them for 15-20 minutes at a time.

Our little boy is getting so big, so fast! Brent and I love Oliver so much and cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for us in this adventure we call life.
