On Thursday we had a great time doing some fun holiday activities. The first thing was after breakfast we took the boys to see Santa. Oliver quickly warmed up to the man in the red suit, talking his ear off about things that we could not hear. Later we asked him what he told him and he said that he wanted a red train and red car for Christmas. (That might be a small problem to be honest... though we did find a red matchbox car that will have to suffice!) Graham just sat there looking cute!
On Thursday night Kelsie, our babysitter, came over to watch the Graham. Brent, Oliver, and I went to the Christmas production for our church, Awaited. It is a great dramatic interpretation of the true story of Christmas told from the point of view of the angels. Oliver sat through the entire thing, mesmerized by the lights, dancing, and music. Afterward we asked him if he enjoyed the show and he enthusiastically said that he did!
Though we are "doing Santa" we emphasize Jesus. He's the only true reason we celebrate. We've been discussing the manger scene in our living room and talking about the characters. Our church has an advent calendar of activities that we do along with scripture readings from the calendar I made last year. Oliver gets excited when we talk about Jesus and what He did for us. He knows that Jesus is the King. I pray daily that both of our boys understand the fullness of His love all throughout their lives.
