Oliverisms

I created a new word that will hopefully describe some of what has been going on in our house this week. Oliver hung out with his friends the Gatewoods the first three days of the week while Dad and Mom were at work. He enjoyed fun times with Becky, Jack, and Reese. He plays exceptionally well with Reese, who is only 4 months younger than him. Becky said they laugh and talk to each other all day long. One story she told me was that Oliver put play cookies into their container, but realized that the rings would not fit in there. So he started putting them on his foot.

In the afternoons we have gotten to hang out as a family since Brent's schedule has changed to him working mornings. This has been amazing! We get to catch up about our days in person and eat dinner as a family. It has also opened up opportunities for me to go to Zumba and Brent to play DiscGolf. In the mean time Oliver has learned how to help me with the dishes. Just yesterday he was putting his toys in to be washed. He's so helpful!

One of our new goals (which Brent is doing much better at than me by far!) is to show Oliver he cannot cry loudly when he does not get what he wants. This mostly happens when he sees food. This is going to be a huge challenge for me, but one that we have decided is necessary. So instead of giving in, I am starting to teach him how to ask for "more" in nice ways. We have a long way to go!

Lastly, we are finished with formula! Oliver started drinking whole milk yesterday. He's getting so big so fast. It's hard to believe that he's going to be a year old very soon. Time is passing too quickly!
