X Day = Play Day!
Yesterday was the teachers' last day of work. My last day is June 5. Because of the Republican Presidential Primary today was an X Day, meaning I could not work. Fortunately for us the Short Family is in town this week. That means Kristen, Everett, Oliver, and I hung out all day long. We started our day around 9:00 at the zoo. The animals were super active this morning! We saw cats roam, polar bears swim, owls hoot, and lizards slither. The weather was perfect: upper 60s to mid-70s. After an 11:00 lunch we carefully headed to our house with hopes that the boys would not sleep in the car. We were fortunate because both boys slept for 2.5 hours at the same time! Kristen and I have been hoping for this since the boys were born! We got to hang out and catch up uninterrupted. After naps and snack-time we made chocolate chip cookies and the boys played. Brent got home around 4:30 and Kyle showed up around 6:00; both had been working. We ate chicken fajitas for supper and enjoyed more hanging out, catching up, and playing. For the first time ever the boys played together- not just parallel play. We got some amazing video of them chasing each other and copying what the other did. They kept us laughing for quite a long time this afternoon!
