Two!

"What's your name?"
"Oiver!"
"How old are you?"
"Two!"
"What's your favorite color?"
"Lello!"

This is our most frequent conversation with Oliver as he turns two years old. Brent and I are in awe of the blessing from God that this sweet boy is in our lives. He's happy most of the time, though bashful around new people or loud groups. He's compliant when asked to do something and usually says, "Please" when he wants something. Though he's starting to see how far crying for something will get him, he's realizing quickly that it's further with Mom than Dad, though not too far with either one of us. Things he loves include Elmo, the color yellow, music (especially VeggieTales), cuddling with Mom, wrestling with Dad, and playing. He enjoys praying before meals and at bed time, frequently asking to "do it again" when we're finished.

Last night we celebrated the first two years of Oliver's life. To keep things simple it was just Brent, me, and our friend Bridgett, who has been out of town for a while and is part of our family when she's here. She did an amazing job of taking pictures so that Brent and I could enjoy the celebration. We had hot dogs and mac & cheese for supper. Dessert included an Elmo cake and vanilla ice cream. Then we opened presents. He loved pulling things out of bags and rips the paper off one piece at a time from wrapped presents. His collection of Elmo paraphernalia now exists and includes a t-shirt, underwear, pajamas, doll, silverware, and phone. The "big" present from Brent and I was a ducky helmet and yellow bike.

God has given Brent and I a gift in Oliver. We learn something every day about life, patience, and love. My prayer for Oliver has always been that he has confidence and knows he is loved. Praise the Lord for guiding us as parents so that these prayers can be answered! We're in love with this little guy and can't wait to see what the next years bring!

The look on his face was priceless! Thanks P-paw and Grammy!

It was impossible to get us all to look at the same time!

Bridgett needed a turn on the bike too!

The new sign for above his bed...
